With China back on top as the dominant player in Asia, the TNM is taking a timely look at the roots of its ancient culture. The exhibit focuses on artifacts excavated from former dynastic capitals along the Yellow River in Henan province, exploring the genesis of Chinese civilization via three themes: the birth of dynasties, the growth of technical artistry and the pursuit of beauty. Beginning with decorative plaques dating back some 4,000 years, it goes on to showcase outstanding pieces of bronze, porcelain and calligraphy.Tokyo National Museum
