Japanese music connoisseur and NME correspondent Daniel Robson launches a new monthly rock showcase at Shibuya’s Ruby Room this month. Bad Noise!, says Robson, is intended to create the exact opposite of a live-house atmosphere, “in the hope that punters enjoy not only the band they came to see but the others on the bill too.” He says he plans to book bands that put on exciting live shows, regardless of genre or level of fame. The opening edition will showcase indie-rock quartet Molice (pictured), bubblegum trio Pinky Doodle Poodle and Nagoya’s Jonny—recently featured in these pages—with upcoming acts slated to run from Akiba-kei duo Bespa Kumamero to “filthy rock” act Royal Cabaret.

“Bad Noise!”
Monthly round-up of Japanese bands featuring Molice, Pinky Doodle Poodle and Jonny. Feb 27, 8pm, ¥1,000. Ruby Room, Shibuya. badnoisetokyo.com
