Contemporary dance giant Jean-Claude Gallotta revisits a landmark piece, 30 years after its debut. Presented by the French Institute, Daphnis é Chloé dramatizes the love affair between Chloé and young shepherd Daphnis. Kidnapped by pirates, Chloé is returned to Daphnis by a miracle performed by the god Pan. First performed in 1982, the work drew acclaim for its ability to combine the cerebral and the animal with a sense of mischief. Galotta reprises the work with three new dancers in a performance to be followed on Apr 26 by a talk show featuring himself and dramatist Claude-Henri Buffard.
Spiral Hall, Apr 25-26 (listing).
