Musician Keiichiro Shibuya will be presenting “Android Opera ‘MIRROR’ – Deconstruction and Rebirth” at Suntory Hall on Wednesday, November 5th. The humanoid robot, Android Maria, will be unveiled on stage during her first performance.

Artist Hiromasa Kishi was responsible for the AI concept design and conversational programming. Development is currently underway with the cooperation of longtime collaborators, including computer musician Shintaro Imai, who has been responsible for programming the androids in recent Android Operas, and University of Tokyo professor Takashi Ikegami, as well as a team of powerful engineers. In addition to its first performance on stage, this performance will showcase the unique vocals and motions that have been enhanced through AI learning, as well as real-time dialogue.

Keichiiro Shibuya is a musician from Tokyo. In 2025, he will present his solo concert “MIRROR Ghost” at the Grand Palais in Paris. He has also composed music for numerous films, winning the 75th Mainichi Film Awards Music Award and the 30th Japan Film Critics Awards Film Music Award for the music of “Midnight Swan.” He plans to release a large-scale new theatrical production in 2027. His work questions the boundaries between life and death, and between technology and humanity.
