Chinese Spring Festival in Tokyo brings vibrant Lunar New Year celebrations to life with traditional performances, food markets, cultural workshops, and lion dances that fill the city with color and energy. It’s a lively way to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of the biggest holiday in the Chinese calendar right in the heart of Tokyo.

February 16: A midnight countdown event, including a lion dance, welcomes the Lunar New Year.

February 17 (around 4 p.m.): Five lion dance teams weave through Chinatown to the sound of drums and firecrackers.

February 21 (from 4:30 p.m.): A grand celebratory parade loops around Chinatown, featuring dancers and performers in emperor costumes.

February 22–23 (from 1 p.m.): Yamashitacho Park hosts traditional performances such as lion and dragon dances and acrobatics.

February 28–March 1 (around 3:30 p.m.): Street performances, including lion dances, mask-changing, and traditional Chinese dance, mark the 40th anniversary of Chinese New Year celebrations in Yokohama.
