Hideki Iinuma “Pro File Picture”
SNOW Contemporary will hold a solo exhibition, “Pro File Picture,” by Hideki Iinuma, from June 24th (Friday) to August 6th (Saturday), 2022.
Hideki Iinuma is a woodcarving artist who entered the Nantes University School of Fine Arts (France) after graduating from Aichi University of the Arts in 2002 and was based in Europe until 2006. Hideki Iinuma has consistently expressed the power of the women living in the modern age by depicting them in today’s latest fashion. His work is infused with the sign of the era, showing his original interpretation of society.
The social environment surrounding us has changed significantly as the Covid infection spread. In particular, the rapid changes in the connections between people and society caused by the penetration of new communication tools and systems are remarkable. To exist in a virtual place such as SNS or Metaverse, people have to build a “new self” (pro file picture) using tools such as avatars and ID photos of their own. Iinuma has found the new power and beauty among those who used profile pictures, consistently proving that they are a part of the community and actively demonstrating their existence and intentions.
The solo exhibition “Pro File Picture” will present a new female image. The exhibition aims to create an opportunity to reconsider the way people and society should be in the modern age through the new image of women that linuma expresses.
