After a three-year hiatus, one of the city’s biggest traditional dance celebrations is in full force over the August 26-27 weekend. Koenji Awa Odori, the second-biggest Awa Odori event in the country will be taking place throughout the Koenji station shotengai from 5pm – 8pm each day featuring over 164 dance groups and 10,000 dancers. Typically attracting over 1,000,000 spectators across the two days, be sure to get in early, check out the food and drink stalls and grab yourself a good spot to take in the celebrations.
