People, Noto, Art: A Collaborative Exhibition for Recovery

Nov 15, 2025 at 11:00am ~ Mar 01, 2026 at 12:00am

It has been one year since the Noto Peninsula earthquake of January 2024, and the Oku-Noto region was further impacted by heavy rains in September. To offer comfort and encouragement to those affected by these disasters, the Tokyo National Museum has spearheaded a meaningful recovery initiative.

This collaborative project brings together cultural facilities and museums in Tokyo, inviting them to share cultural assets with messages of hope and recovery. The highlight of this initiative is a special exhibition, set to take place in the fall of 2025, featuring contributions from:

Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art (from November 15 to December 21)

21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (from December 13 to March, 1, 2026)

National Crafts Museum, Kanazawa City (from December 9 to March, 1, 2026)

Each museum will display selected cultural artifacts that align with the project’s purpose, supporting the reconstruction effort.

In addition to the exhibition, educational outreach programs and video content inspired by the national treasure “Pine Forest Screen” by Momoyama painting master Hasegawa Tohaku (a native of Noto) will be presented in Ishikawa Prefecture.

We will share additional details about the exhibition as they are finalized. Stay connected for updates and join us in supporting the recovery of the Noto region through the transformative power of art and culture.
