Heavy metal groups are notorious for their complex genealogies, as members switch bands and moonlight for other outfits. Greek metal warhorse Firewind is no exception—both singer Apollo Papathanasio and lead guitarist Gus G put in stellar performances at last year’s Loud Park festival, but with different bands. While Papathanasio provided a charismatic focus to Swedish stoner metalists Spiritual Beggars, Gus G kept Ozzy Osbourne on his toes with inspired riffing and blistering solos. Having the two of them together in a much smaller venue promises to provide a monster start to the year.
