Event promoter Tomoji Takeuchi has thrown gigs in some odd places in the past, including a planetarium in Oji and a former elementary school in Nishi-Shinjuku (Haikou Fes, pictured). His latest festival might just have the strangest venue yet: the concourse of Saitama Stadium 2002. Guru Guru Mawaru 2010 will see a host of indie musicians and performance artists descend on ten different stages, each with a different curator. Freak jazz ensemble Shibusashirazu Orchestra and jam band Riddim Saunter are guaranteed to be big draws, but be sure to explore some of the other areas for an array of oddball installations and even stranger music.
