Nicolas Cage continues his career-destroying habit of appearing in movies unworthy of his talent with this undistinguished, preposterous potboiler. A New Orleans schoolteacher’s wife (a vapid January Jones) is raped and beaten. In the hospital, he is approached by a shady Guy Pearce, who says his shady organization will find and kill her attacker if in return he agrees to perform some shady deed for them sometime in the future. He says okay. Jeez, doesn’t this guy ever go to the movies? It’s getting to the point where Cage’s participation in a movie is a warning rather than a recommendation.
