Remember ambient house? That was the music that DJs used to play for synapse-fried ravers in chill-out rooms at clubs in the ’90s. Well, ambient house may have gone the way of the rave, but Berlin-based producer Sven Weisemann has found a way to bring the “chill” back to the dancefloor. The 25-year-old German composes ambient music for piano and cello, interweaved with jacking house and techno inspired by luminaries such as Derrick May and Theo Parrish. Weisemann arrives in Japan to play Module’s venerable sub-basement—the home of techno in Tokyo for two decades—at the invitation of party organizers Klass, whose main man Naoki Shinohara will also be behind the decks.
