Update: Tara Jane O’Neil was turned back at immigration for not having the proper “Entertainer” visa, so her Japan shows have been cancelled.  Helll tells Metropolis that the show on April 10 will still be happening, other details pending.

Multi-instrumentalist/composer/visual artist Tara Jane O’Neil will tour Japan from March 28-April 10.  First becoming well known as the bassist for 90s Kentucky post punk band, Rodin, O’Neil’s artistry spans across multiple media and genres including film, painting, choreography, and experimental music.  Her latest critically acclaimed LP, Where Shine New Lights (Kranky, 2014) paints hypnotic post-folk ambient soundscapes that lull and dreamily ponder.  Tokyo based opener, Helll, play deft, improvisational pulses that fluidly surge, crest, and wax.  It will be an evening of inspiration and dreamscapes.
