Named after the legendary 20th-century Ukrainian pianist, the competition was founded in 1994 and serves as a proving ground for up-and-coming talent. Slated to appear are teen virtuosos Ryoma Takagi, Aleksandra Kasman and Roman Lopatinsky (right), who will perform technically demanding pieces by Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Liszt.
