With interest awakened by a recent screening of the documentary Young@Heart, the senior-singing phenomenon makes its Japan debut. Made up of a revolving group of vocalists in their ’70s to ’90s, the ensemble was launched at a home for the elderly in Massachusetts, performing campy songs like “Nobody Loves a Fairy When She’s… Ninety.” Young@Heart has since touched a chord with aging societies around the world, touring North America, Europe and Australia dozens of times. For its Japan dates, the group will perform its “Alive and Well” concert, featuring songs from past productions as well as brand new numbers.
