Finding a convenience store in Tokyo isn’t exactly a challenge, but in case you absolutely must know where that nearest Lawson or 7-Eleven is, コンビニ (“Conbini”) is here to help. Available for the iPhone and iPod Touch, the augmented-reality app directs you to the nearest shop within a 1km radius. When using the iPhone’s camera live view in the vertical position, users get a 360-degree glimpse of all local conbini—updated in real time as they walk in the streets—while the horizontal position displays just the nearest shops. When a train station is selected, a red arrow appears to show the direction and distance. The app, which doesn’t require a network connection to operate, is available for 99 cents from the US iTunes store.
