With a band name meaning “for pre-determined lovers,” the copiously-named Arakajime Kimerareta Koibitotachi E plays a shoegazer-influenced variant of dub, the psychedelic instrumental offshoot of Jamaican reggae. “Arakoi,” as the Tokyo band is known to fans, has a new EP out called Kyo (“Today,”) and to celebrate its release is hosting a “one man” concert at Ebisu’s Liquidroom. Expect formidable bass lines, mind-melding effects, mesmerizing rhythms and that most archetypal of dub instruments, the humble melodica.
Liquidroom, Apr 6 (listing).
