Calbee’s Chips gets Creative
The snack makers fuse caramel with potato
What makes Japanese snacks so entertaining is the enthusiasm manufacturers have for creative flavors. While orange or soda may seem a bit “out there,” chip maker Calbee’s new fusion of potato and salted caramel—made with 60 percent Lorraine rock salt—is the perfect combination.
The caramel is delightfully bittersweet, and the chips give a lighter experience than caramel’s classic salted partner, the pretzel. On a diet? Be careful, as the chances of not finishing the bag in one sitting are slim.
Available in convenience stores and supermarkets nationwide.
