Kanto residents have gotten used to seeing the cute, round face of the Suica penguin just about everywhere they go. As with many big stars, though, it seems as though the little critter has grown dissatisfied with the limited scope of his endorsements and is looking to expand into more culinary pursuits. Enter the Suica brand Pan no Can-Zume—or, literally, bread-in-a-can. Open up the squat cylindrical container to reveal an equally cylindrical hunk of fluffy croissant-like bread—sadly, not suika-flavored (ours was apple). Each can also includes a pin displaying the penguin’s face in a variety of expressions (there’s even a crying one). As an extra special bonus, a clever slot in the lid allows you to turn the empty can into a piggy bank when you’re all done eating. Brilliant.
¥390. Available at Kiosk and Newsday stands in various JR stations
