Before she passed away in November, installation artist Jeanne-Claude reportedly said, “If, for some reason, I couldn’t live in New York, I would like to live in Tokyo.” Her affection for the city makes 21_21 Design Sight the perfect venue for the first large-scale retrospective of Jeanne-Claude’s career. Offering a peek into projects that she and fellow installation artist Christo had underway before her death (and that Christo still intends to complete), the exhibition features extensive documentation of their most famous works, such as planting fields of yellow and blue umbrellas in California and Japan, and wrapping the Reichstag in Berlin with silver fabric.
