Forget those stale images of Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms: what does Japan mean to you? That’s the question being posed by My Japan, a “creative contest” run by students, for students. Submissions are currently being accepted for 30-second films and interactive computer applications that convey “original ideas and perspectives on Japan.” And no, that iPhone video from your last big karaoke session probably isn’t going to cut it. Entries will be judged by a panel of luminaries from the advertising and creative industries, and the winner in each category will get a tidy $1,000. The competition is being organized by student union Adoir, with the support of the Japan Tourism Agency, and if you’re interested in taking part you’ll need to get a move on: the deadline for initial submissions is June 5.
