Emerging kabuki star Kamejiro Ichikawa meets a trio of noh performers in an unusual cross-genre charity event. Born into an illustrious kabuki family, Ichikawa has starred in NHK dramas and appeared on stages in London and Paris. Sankyokai, meanwhile, are a trio of musicians exploring the potential of stately noh music outside its traditional sphere. Dento Geino no Ima, or “Traditional Performing Arts Now,” includes popular kabuki dances like “Fuji Musume,” which celebrates the beauty of young women. Proceeds benefit the Gold Ribbon campaign of the Children’s Cancer Association of Japan.
