Will they ever end? We thought dubstep had already declared victory, but apparently the “warz” between hopped up drum ‘n’ bass and its rhythmically challenged stepchild dubstep continue. Drum & Bass x Dubstep Warz 2013 is a production of Tokyo’s long-running Drum ‘n’ Bass Sessions and will see hardened dnb DJ, record producer and entrepreneur Dillinja go up against fellow Brit and busy dubstep proselytizer J:Kenzo. Dillinja’s signature tracks (often heard on Da Ali G Show) feature paralyzing synth stabs piercing frenetic rhythm tracks. J:Kenzo issued his eponymous disc last year on pioneering Dubstep label Tempa and proffers a dark, rootsy take on dubstep. Any way you look at it basement club Unit will be reverberating with appropriately subterranean vibrations.
