I had hoped for better from costars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis and director Todd Phillips (The Hangover) than this desperate, mildly amusing, odd-couple road trip. Uptight Downey loses all his ID and money in Atlanta and is forced to hitch a ride to LA with annoyingly friendly goofball Galifianakis. The problem is that the movie tries too hard. Rather than developing chemistry between the mismatched pair like in, say, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, it instead opts to distract with such overcooked silliness as car crashes and jailbreaks. Missed opportunity. I winced more than I laughed.
