Berlin-based street artist El Bocho returns to Tokyo this fall with PINK, his third solo show at 104GALERIE — and his first in seven years. Known for his striking portraits that seem to look right through you, El Bocho brings around 30 new works created especially for this exhibition, alongside a collaborative installation with fellow street artists from Berlin.

A former design student turned street art icon, El Bocho made his name on Berlin’s post–Wall streets, painting the hopes, humor and contradictions of city life. His work, found across cities from Tokyo to São Paulo, captures the beauty and chaos of the everyday — where bright color meets quiet reflection.

In PINK, El Bocho pushes his visual language further. Each canvas bursts with bold neon hues and expressive brushwork, showing both power and vulnerability. While his familiar urban themes remain — faces, buildings, flowers — this series also explores new ideas: the shift from cities to suburbs (Waiting for the Flood) and the unease of climate change (Homeland).

The result is a vivid conversation between Berlin and Tokyo — a blend of tension, tenderness, and hope glowing beneath the city lights.
