UK photographer and long-term Tokyo resident Jim Bingham explores the duality of space in a series of monochrome photographs taken from 2011-2023. He has captured over 800 images in this collection, and a select few have been carefully curated to explore the binary theme. Additionally, the photos have been re-sized to a 1×1 crop for claustrophobic intimacy and tightly focused contemplation.

The portrait section of the exhibition invites you to observe Tokyo’s inhabitants, devoid of identity and removed from context. These spontaneous images are an unguarded exploration of the spectrum of emotional reactions an urban environment elicits.
