Throughout November, “Qualia” the debut full-length feature film from indie film director Ryo Ushimaru will be screening at Shinjuku K’s Cinema. With screenings every day from 8:40pm, English-subtitled screenings will be available on November 19, 22, 26, 29 and 30.

This dark comedy delves into the chaos that ensues when a man’s wife and his extramarital partner end up sharing a living space. Yuko, who married into the Tanaka family’s poultry farm, leads a humble life while contending with bullying from her sister-in-law, Satomi. In an unexpected turn of events, Saki, engaged in an affair with Yuko’s husband, Ryosuke, applies for a live-in position at the chicken farm. Unaware of the affair, Yuko conducts the interview and hires Saki, setting the stage for a peculiar cohabitation. Starring Kokone Sasaki, this film, titled “QUALIA,” is directed by actor Ryo Ushimaru, marking his debut as a full-length theatrical feature director. The work is based on the original play by Gekidan Utsuroro theater company which was written and directed Yoshitomo Ochi.
