Roof Park Fes & Walk 2026

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Expressway Co., Ltd. have announced “Roof Park Fes & Walk 2026,” a special two-day event held on April 25 and 26, 2026. This initiative invites the public to walk along a stretch of the former Tokyo Expressway (KK Line), from Kyobashi to Ginza and Shimbashi. The project aims to regenerate this former vehicle-only road into a lush, green, pedestrian-centered public space, offering a “sneak peek” into the future of Tokyo’s urban landscape.

The event is organized into five distinct zones, each offering unique experiences:

ZONE 01 (Roof Park STREET): A dedicated area for urban sports, including skateboarding, breaking, and double dutch.
ZONE 02 (Roof Park MARKET): Features food trucks, a market with specialty products from across Japan, and a stage for live performances and talks.
ZONE 03 (Roof Park PLAYGROUND): A family-friendly zone with playground equipment, street drawing, and workshops.
ZONE 04 (Roof Park RELAX): A peaceful space designed for visitors to enjoy the wide-open sky and city views at a leisurely pace.
ZONE 05 (Roof Park SQUARE): Offers next-generation mobility test rides and extended-reality (XR) simulations of the future pedestrian space.

In addition to the daytime walk, the festival includes a Morning Program featuring a sunrise run and yoga session starting at 7:30 AM. On Saturday night, a one-night-only LIVE & CINEMA event will transform the former highway into an outdoor theater set against the Tokyo nightscape. Registration for these paid programs opens on March 19th at 2:00 PM via the official event website.
