August is almost here and Showa Kayo Night is returning to Shibuya during Obon, oh boy!

Whether you like the garage-influenced rock of group sounds, disco idol toe tappers, 80s floor fillers, or dance-y city pop anthems, Showa Kayo Night has you covered. Showa Kayo Night is a popular monthly Japanese oldies DJ event which was held monthly for 10 years in Shibuya, Tokyo. Organized by American expat and DJ Justin Miller and long-time Tokyo nightlife mainstay Ayano Umejima, the event has been featured on Japanese television, radio and print since its inception for its unique mix of Japanese and non-Japanese fans of all ages and walks of life. Showa Kayo Night events are exceptional because of the diversity of the audience. Japanese locals mix with tourists and expats of all ages to come together at the bar, in conversation, and on the dance floor. Salarymen are grooving with Swedish models while original Showa era glamor queens boogie to their favorites with a new foreign friend. After a 3 year hiatus Showa Kayo Night has returned to Shibuya at the wonderful or Miyashita Park nightclub 3F.
