Join Nine Gallery in welcoming Ming Chun Chung for ‘Tokyo in Times’, an exciting solo exhibition. The exhibition is centered around ‘Tokyo in Times – 100 Time-lapses, 100 moments of Tokyo’, a project born out of Ming Chun Chung’s love for photography and desire to explore the city.
The project includes 100 time-lapse sequences that the artist took of Tokyo at night and explores the ghost-town-like atmosphere after the first wave of COVID hit Japan. Ming Chun Chung gravitated towards the use of time-lapse as he felt the cross between photograph and moving image perfectly captured the beautiful nightscapes of Tokyo. Regarding his preference for shooting nighttime scenery, the artist describes how it stems from his fascination with the enigmatic and distinctive character of cities after dark.
Ming Chun Chung hopes that visitors to the exhibition will share in their passion for Tokyo and appreciate the beautiful nightscapes that he has displayed.
