With 87 million views since their “Pumped Up Kicks” video went viral in 2010, Foster The People arrive for Summer Sonic and a recently announced in-town gig. Instrumental polymath Mark Foster created the band in 2009 after years in LA as a struggling musician and commercial jingle writer. When “Pumped Up Kicks” exploded, the group found themselves at the center of a bidding war, ultimately signing with Sony and releasing Torches. The album’s impressive range of indie pop, alt-rock and electronica drew praise from U2’s The Edge, who called it “beautifully made and thrilling.”
