The rainy season is upon us, which means a good few weeks of soggy trains, frizzy hair and shoes that never dry. With this oval gizmo on your side, though, there’s no excuse for letting your books and clothes go moldy in the dampness of your home. The Shikke-tori no Tamago (Egg Dehumidifier) has a silica core that absorbs moisture: leave it on a bookshelf or in your closet, and the gel will soak up as much as 80cc of liquid through the ceramic surface, keeping your belongings dry and crisp. When the indicator turns pink, just pop it in the microwave, and the egg will be ready for reuse.

Shikke-tori no Tamago, ¥2,100. Available at branches of Tokyu Hands and via www.bellemaison.jp.
