Since our recent long look at the iPad in these pages last month, we’ve been hearing from any number of local firms working with the shiny new Apple lust-bauble. Not least among those is Simplism, a Saitama-based company with a very sharp eye for design.

Simplism, which also has a reputation for getting out accessories for new gadgets on or near their release date and, more significantly, for eschewing wasteful packaging, already has a line of iPad cases that shame the feeble official offerings.

We were particularly struck by the shiny red Flip Leather Case and the Shoulder Leather Case (prices vary) that does the whole manbag thing with a geek twist. No need to hide your gadget fetish under a rock, right?
