Ranking site Goo asked 11,087 Japanese people what bad manners in others are unforgettable. Be careful of the following if you want to avoid getting right up someone’s nose.

1. Littering: 2898 people
2. Being late and not being bothered about it: 1650
3. Not using proper greetings: 1649
4. Canceling plans at the last minute: 1099
5. Not using keigo (polite language): 720
6. Bad table manners: 579
7. Talking in a loud voice: 454
8. Doing make-up on the train: 353
9. Music blaring from headphones: 342
10. Hogging seats on the train: 327
