Yojiro Takita’s Oscar-winning film about a traditional embalmer gets its sequel in the form of a stage play at the glitzy new Act Theater. Kabuki heartthrob Kantaro Nakamura stars as the out-of-work cellist turned funeral company employee who prepares the deceased for burial and entry into the next life. According to production company Shochiku, the story takes place seven years after the events in the film, but the characters and concepts more or less follow the original. Okuribito is in Japanese with no subtitles.
