The Tokyo International Film Festival boots up with some pre-festival events before opening on October 20. Targeting an international audience is a screening and talk on Post Card, director Kaneto Shindo’s last film. Created when he was 98, the movie views WWII with ordinary people’s eyes, seeing how a solider’s death devastates his family. Shindo’s son and producer, Jiro, will provide insight into the film’s creation, with English translation.
