Fans of the yoshoku staple known as doria will want to check out the new menu at Cheese Parade Cafe in Yokohama’s Tama Plaza (3F Tama Plaza Terrace Gate, 1-1-2 Utsukushi-gaoka, Aoba-ku; http://r.gnavi.co.jp/g600142). The “Gotouchi Doria” promotion features an array of the rice-based, cheese-topped dishes, with recipes sourced from around the country. From Hokkaido comes a “soup curry” version with potato and seafood, while the Osaka variety is an okonomiyaki-like dish topped with tako. Tottori is represented by a gutsy three-cheese doria with sausage, and the Kanagawa version features deep-fried Shonan shirasu with a tomato-cream sauce. Cheese Parade Cafe has also created its own original take on the dish, with stewed pork, four varieties of onions and demi-glace sauce. All the doria are ¥780-¥1,150; add ¥150 for salad and a drink.
