You don’t have to be a gearhead to be impressed by The Peninsula Tokyo’s customized car fleet. On any given day, the hotel’s circular driveway might boast an Audi R8, BMW 750 Li, or one of three Rolls-Royces, including a stunning 1934 Phantom II. Now the hotel has further burnished its reputation among car-lovers with the addition of two specially designed Mini Cooper S Clubmans. The chauffeured vehicles, offered free to any guest staying in a suite, can be used for up to three hours within a 10km radius of the hotel. Among the personalized features are an exterior finished in Peninsula Green, mounted rooftop box (to carry shopping bags), fridge and iPhone jack. At a ceremony presided over by actor Takashi Tsukamoto earlier this month, the cars were unveiled from inside enormous Peninsula pageboy hats.
