Visit Japan Promotion SNS Campaign

The punchily named “Share your WOW!  Japan Photo Contest ” has drawn to a close with the selection of a diverse group of winners.

Held September 1 last year through February 15, it was the first full-scale SNS campaign organized by the Japan Tourism Agency. A mighty 17,070 people participated in this campaign, 38,817 photos were posted, and 250,000 people became Facebook fans of the campaign.

The seven award-winners came from Singapore, Canada, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, China, and South Africa.

Check out all the posted photos, including the ones that picked up gongs, here.

Winners were invited to the awards ceremony held at the Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel in Kasukabe-shi, Saitama, on March 15, and to premium experience tours the organizers hope more foreign tourists might experience in the future.

In one example participants had the chance to become lords for one day of Tsrugajo Castle—the great castle at Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima.

Watch this space for more projects from The Japan Tourism Agency, who are keen to keep their social media momentum going as a top priority this year.
