When it comes to snack foods, Japanese companies consistently cook up flavor combinations that would have the rest of the world running for the bathroom. Case in point: a new series of fruit- and veggie-inspired Kit-Kats from Nestle. Some, like sour orange and mango pudding could, in theory, pair well with chocolate. An ume-shitate flavored bar, spotted at our local conbini in recent weeks, had us raising our eyebrows, but the latest offering really takes the, um, cake. Partnering with beverage company Itoen, the newest Kit-Kat is a “vegetable-enriched” bar made with white chocolate plus apple and carrot flavorings. …Yum?
