Takeshi Kitano, 63, has announced that he’s making a sequel to his latest film, Outrage. The follow-up to the violent yakuza movie, due to open in autumn 2011, will be the first time he has directed a sequel to one of his films. Known for starring in his own movies, Kitano gave a wild performance in Outrage alongside Kippei Shiina (Rain Fall) and Tomokazu Miura (The Borrowers). The film, featuring ample amounts of betrayal, mind games and gore, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May to mixed reviews. Domestically, Outrage did so-so business, taking in ¥750 million at the box office
