What: A T-shirt to support efforts to rescue the 33 miners trapped underground in Copiapo, Chile
Who: Higashimatsuyama Society of Commerce and Industry, Saitama (www.higashimatsuyama.or.jp)
How much: ¥1,500, plus shipping. Proceeds donated to the Chilean Embassy in Tokyo
Why: “The T-shirts bear Japanese sentences saying: ‘I’ll give up _____ until all the people trapped in the Copiapo mine are saved’ and ‘May everyone be rescued.’ Wearers can write something they will give up in the blank space, such as cigarettes or alcohol.”
