When architect Terunobu Fujimori finishes a design, he invites his clients to his Too-High Tea House in Nagano to deliver a hand-rendered version of the final plans. After a long career as an architectural historian, Fujimori began late in life to churn out a string of unusual and innovative buildings. The longtime University of Tokyo professor didn’t receive his first commission until age 44, but in the past two decades he’s created an average of one design a year, many of them finished with the help of volunteers from his motley Jomon Company.
