Seven elderly Brits converge on a Jaipur retirement hotel only to find that the advertisements that drew them there may have been a bit, um, optimistic. Some of their low-stakes stories are more believable than others, but they would all be difficult to care about were the characters not played by Judi Dench, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy, Penelope Wilson, Maggie Smith, Celia Imrie and Ronald Pickup. This cast could make the phone book riveting. This comfortable, gorgeously filmed movie is aimed at an underserved audience demographic that’s looking for nothing more than good acting and Golden Years happy endings.
