I love using “pet names” with my husband. For all of you who don’t know, a pet name is an affectionate (albeit slightly ridiculous) way of addressing someone you’re romantically involved with. They’re very popular among high school and college-aged couples in America—but for some reason, they never caught on in Japan. I call my husband “hun,” “sweetheart,” or “babe,” and he calls me “honey,” “pretty girl,” and “boo-chan.” Roll your eyes all you want; I think it’s adorable.

私は夫とお互いを愛称で呼び合う事が大好きです。愛称とは恋人などのあなたとロマンチックな関係を持つ人を愛情を込めて呼ぶ呼び方の一つです。愛称はアメリカの高校生や大学生カップルの間では非常に人気ですが、何故か日本ではあまり広まっていません。私は夫の事を「hun」「sweetheart」や「babe」と呼び、夫は私の事を「honey」「pretty girl」や「booちゃん」と呼びます。どうぞ私達の事を笑いたかったら笑ってください。私は愛称はステキだと思ってますので。
