UK DJ Gilles Peterson returns to his “favorite city” for another installment of his J-Wave Worldwide Showcase nights. Peterson is known for pushing drum ‘n’ bass, jazz-funk and world music into the mainstream, and his events can be counted on for unusual mashups of international and Japanese musos. The 2012 edition will see New York jazz singer Jose James mixing it up with Tokyo swing trio J.A.M., and veteran Tokyo turntablist DJ Krush pitting his headspinning downtempo against Philadelphia’s highly rated new vocalist Ryat, now being compared to Bjork.
