Two law-enforcement agents (Denzel Washington & Mark Wahlberg), one DEA, the other Navy Intelligence, are under deep cover as drug dealers, but neither is aware that his partner in crime is anything but a common crook. Not great cinema. The villains (Bill Paxton & Edward James Olmos) are cartoonish, the plot holes numerous. Take away the two bantering A-listers and it’s a fairly preposterous, mismatched-buddies bag of surprises and reversals that’s as generic as its title. But Denzel and Mark display some crackling chemistry and offbeat humor, and elevate the material to enjoyable time-waster level.
