Almost everyone enjoyed 1999’s American Pie, the raunchy but sort of sweet tale of four high-school buddies committed to losing their virginity (virginities?) before graduating. But the six sequels and DVD spinoffs took the concept well past its shelf life. Now we have the original, gradually thickening cast back for a 13-year reunion (an anomaly only screen-written grads would dream up), mostly to recycle the original schmaltz, sex gags and sentiment. No discernible plot. Again Eugene Levy gets most of the meager laughs in this innocuous but unnecessary romp. Wait for the airline version. Japanese title: American Pie Pie Pie. (113 min)
