A big, hyper-dysfunctional family gathers for a wedding. Ellen Barkin, Thomas Hayden Church, Kate Bosworth, Ezra Miller, George Kennedy, Ellen Burstyn and Demi Moore are by turns needy, whiny, selfish, drug addicted, screechy, violent, catty, cruel, abusive, and even racist. With this kind of cast, there will inevitably be some very good moments, and there are. But from the glibly ironic title to the long-awaited closing credits, this film by Sam Levinson, son of Barry (explains the terrific cast) is a mean, thoroughly ugly movie filled with reprehensible characters, and for no particular reason.
