Today’s Recipe is a daily cooking show on NHK that has been furnishing home chefs with dishes for some 50 years. Now, in a rare nod to the English-speaking market, there is an app which provides users with the daily recipes—all translated into the Queen’s tongue. That’s English by the way. Ippin (http://ippinrecipes.com) costs ¥300, but is available for a free two-week trial. The app’s only apparent drawback, for the moment, is it’s only available for users of Windows 8 or Windows RT. A photo tile interface allows you to peruse the dishes before delving in; just don’t get slobber on your shiny tablet.
